So what’s the deal with the blue field?
I understand the inherent inferiority the Boise State program must feel because, well, it’s not one of the big boys. Whether in terms of name recognition or talent, the Broncos are obviously harboring the feeling of not quite measuring up to the powers of the college football world.
But why practically yell that lack of self-esteem from the rooftops by soaking your turf in the color of Papa Smurf?
Sure, there’s the tactic of throwing competition off-balance with a well-off-the-radar hue, but does that really work? Opponents know going in why you’ve done that, so the psychological factor is dulled before the opening kickoff.
Maybe you’re trying to be cool. Well, the “cool” exponent only factors into the equation of success on Saturdays if that attempt at upping the “glamor” value is perceived to be a byproduct of confidence.
That doesn’t work so well when it’s glaringly obviously the tactic is to gain an advantage because you feel that source of an advantage is mandatory.
Get a clue. Discard the blue.
And find another way of shifting the tide of probability in your favor.
