Michigan State 36, Notre Dame 28—Final
Though the No. 18 Notre Dame Fighting Irish scored 21 straight points, it wasn't enough to overcome the 12th-ranked Michigan State Spartans on Saturday night in South Bend.
Michigan State (2-0) built a 36-7 advantage, largely thanks to L.J. Scott, Gerald Holmes and the offensive line. The Spartans racked up 260 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.
DeShone Kizer threw for a career-best 344 yards, but Notre Dame (1-2) elected to punt with just over three minutes remaining in the contest and failed to reclaim possession.
