The Michigan State Spartans men's basketball team has already been dealt a blow ahead of the 2016-17 season, with forward Gavin Schilling suffering a knee injury during practice Friday.

The team's official Twitter account announced the news Wednesday, noting Schilling suffered a non-contact injury that will require surgery. The team has not provided a timetable for his return.
