Kadeem Allen's runner in the closing seconds lifted No. 10 Arizona to a 65-63 win over No. 12 Michigan State on Friday night in a matchup of new-look teams at the Armed Forces Classic in Hawaii.
The Wildcats (1-0) appeared that they would be run off the court in the early going. They came out flat, turning the ball over, and fell behind 17-2 in the opening minutes before closing the half with 32 of the final 45 points to lead at the break.
The Spartans (0-1) tied the game with seven second left on a Tum Tum Nairn triple that was deadened by the back of the rim and somehow dropped, but it wasn't enough to pull out a win in a game that got away from them.
