NFL Draft 2011: Don’t Overlook South Carolina Fullback Patrick DiMarco
South Carolina fullback Patrick DiMarco is a man who has been a staple on the Gamecocks football team for the last four years. He has become a fan favorite, and a player who will be missed in the 2011 season. However, his NFL prospects do not look as bright as they should be. He is listed as a potential fifth to seventh rounder, but some draft websites have him slipping to free agency. This shouldn't happen. Here is ...
SEC Basketball Road Trip: No. 18 Vanderbilt at Georgia
One of the joys of being a sports fan in a city like Atlanta is that within a two-hour driving radius of the city limits, you have access to four professional sports teams and four colleges/universities that compete at the Div. I level in major sports. Today I decided to take advantage of my surroundings and make the hour and change trek north to Athens to see the Georgia Bulldogs men's basketball team take on ...
College Football Predictions: Power Ranking the SEC East and West in 2011
The Auburn Tigers ruled the South Eastern Conference in 2010. Can they repeat in 2011? The SEC Championship has been won by a team from the West the last two years. However, the East has a total of 11 wins while the West only has eight. The SEC lost several key players to the NFL Draft. We will no longer be blessed to see such play-makers as A.J. Green, Mark Ingram, Julio Jones, Patrick Peterson, and oh ...
Alabama Football Recruiting: Tide Gets Star Running Back for Class of 2012
According to Scout.com’s Andrew Bone, the Alabama Crimson Tide football team now has its seventh commitment for the Class of 2012.
Kenyan Drake, a star running back at Hillgrove High School in Powder Springs, Georgia, chose the Tide over Georgia, Georgia Tech, Purdue and Tennessee, among others.
Bone—who also writes a weekly recruiting column for The Tuscaloosa News—reports the 6’0”, 184-pounder had 1,000 rushing yards and over 500 yards receiving last season.
Drake joins “watch-list” defensive tackle Dakota Ball ...

Three Pac-10 Players Selected As Midseason Finalists For The Naismith Award
On Friday, the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced its annual midseason Top 30 finalists for the Naismith Award, given each year to the most outstanding player in college basketball. The Pac-10 has three players who were among this elite list of collegiate players: Derrick Williams (Arizona), Isaiah Thomas (Washington) and Klay Thompson (Washington State). Williams leads the conference in field goal percentage (63.3) and is the second-leading scorer at 19.5 PPG. Williams leads the nation in free throws attempted and ...
USC Football 2011: Some Things Need to Happen to Take Them From Good to Great
The pieces are lying on the table like a jigsaw puzzle. None are missing. They’re face up. All that is left is for the parts to adjoin so that the big picture can present itself. Over the past two recruiting seasons, what has happened is pure success. Like every year, Troy landed some big-time athletes in 2010 and 2011, and lost some as well. This is no surprise. Even ultra-great recruiters Lane Kiffin and Ed ...
Tiger’s Time: Clemson Will Be Ready To Claim ACC Crown in 2011
Every year Clemson fans say it: "This will be our year." And every year it's the same result: the Tigers score a big win over a top 15 team, and then lose to a Maryland or Wake Forest the next week.
That's how football has gone in Clemson for over a decade, lots of hype, tons of potential, but they never finish the job. They came close in 2009, falling short in the ACC Championship ...
Auburn Tigers Football: It Was Too Short a Time at the Top, Now Second Fiddle Again
Just a month ago, the ticker tape fell and Auburn players thrust their arms up into the air with index fingers extended as high as they could. Auburn was No.1.
What a difference a few days make.
Instead of getting to bask in the glow of a championship for the offseason, Auburn has already been relegated back to second fiddle status behind Alabama, once again.
Just when Auburn hoped they could parlay that champion into a rare victory ...
BYU’s "Other" Cougars Step Up and Silence Willis, UNLV
Saturday afternoon was a learning experience for me. While watching BYU beat UNLV 78-64 at the Marriott Center, I learned three important lessons.
1) Tre'Von Willis should never talk about Jimmer Fredette, ever.
2) BYU is more than just a one-trick pony.
3) Why Jimmer Fredette is a great player.
On January 3rd, UNLV guard Tre'Von Willis said "They've got a preseason All-American and supposedly the best player in the conference.. I try to make him earn everything he ...
