Reigning national champions Villanova picked up two more victories this past week to remain atop the Associated Press' Top 25 college basketball poll for Week 6. On Saturday, the Wildcats escaped a serious test from previously undefeated Notre Dame to solidify their status at No. 1.  Most of the changes within the poll were minor. That's mainly because every team inside last week's Top 10 made it through the week without a loss. The highest-ranked team ...

Villanova got a pair of scares from La Salle and Notre Dame, but the Wildcats survived those battles to remain the No. 1 team in the Associated Press Top 25 poll for a second straight week. Between finals and holidays, December is always the slowest month of the college basketball season. But even by December standards, this was a painfully lackluster week of hoops. There were only three games played between ranked teams and even fewer unforgivably ...

The first month of the college basketball season has been one of the most awesome first months in recent memory for a few reasons. The teams at the top are a lot of fun to watch. You have the returning champs (Villanova) who shoot a lot of threes and play close to mistake-free basketball. Kansas, Duke, UCLA and Indiana have elite offenses that space the floor, also shoot a bunch of threes and make offense look ...

Tennessee led the majority of the game at the Dean Smith Center and clung to a 69-68 advantage until Justin Jackson made a layup with less than three minutes remaining to give the Tar Heels the lead for good.  Brandon Robinson extended the lead to 72-69 with a ...

Which Red-Hot College Basketball Stars Will Start to Cool Off?

It can't all be sunshine and cupcakes forever in college basketball. Scheduling cupcakes, if you get my drift. Soon the big, bad conference portion of the program will begin, which is when we can truly separate wheat from chaff. Until then, gorge yourselves, young men. These cupcakes are so delicious that they're almost D-II-level. And in so gorging, these college basketball stars have inflated their statistics beyond what might be realistic against more consistent competition. For some, the ...

No. 1 Villanova stormed back from an 11-point deficit in the first half to upend No. 23 Notre Dame 74-66 in Saturday afternoon's Never Forget Tribute Classic at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.  The Wildcats (10-0) were led by senior star Josh Hart's 37 points and 11 rebounds on a day where the rest of the team struggled offensively. Hart slung the team on his back, particularly in the second half, and took control ...

No one likes to lose, but in many instances, something good can come from a defeat. These are not examples of that. We're about a month into the 2016-17 season and, as is the case every year, we've had quite a few head-turning results. The nonconference portion of the schedule features a large helping of projected mismatches, but some major underdogs end up pulling shockers and in some of those high-profile contests what was expected to ...
