Norm Roberts Fired: St. John’s Red Storm Can Their Head Coach After NIT Loss

St. John's Athletic Director Chris Monasch announced the dismissal of head coach Norm Roberts just two days after the sixth-year coach's opening-round loss to Memphis in the NIT tournament.

He recorded only two winning seasons with the Red Storm, including last year's dismal 17-16 season record, going 6-12 in Big East play.

"Coach Roberts took over a very challenging situation," Monasch said in his statement, released by the team. "We appreciate the class and integrity he exhibited in his six years at St. John's."

Roberts hasn't been as successful as many others over his last 10 years of coaching.  Including his four-year record when he was head coach at Division II Queens College, he is 105-185.
