The fourth-ranked Washington Huskies have Dante Pettis to thank for keeping their undefeated record in tact.  In a back-and-forth affair at Rice-Eccles Stadium on Saturday afternoon, the Huskies took down the 17th-ranked Utah Utes, 31-24, after Pettis returned a punt 58 yards for a touchdown with three minutes, 25 seconds remaining in regulation: Washington is now 8-0 and should find itself slotted into the College Football Playoff picture when the first rankings are unveiled Tuesday. The No. 6 Ohio State Buckeyes looked shaky again Saturday against the Northwestern Wildcats, but they pulled out a 24-20 win. Quarterback J.T. Barrett was given more time than last week to throw, and the run game had decent chunk gains.  The run defense continued to look unstoppable.  Here’s how I graded the Buckeyes’ performance.Begin Slideshow

Clemson 37, Florida State 34 — Final It was a wild game that featured four lead changes in the second half, but Deshaun Watson and No. 3 Clemson (8-0) came through in the clutch to seal a wild 37-34 win over Florida State (5-3) Saturday night. Watson was brilliant, throwing for 378 yards and two touchdowns while adding another 52 yards on the ground. There were times when he was Clemson's only offense as the running game was ...

Despite Win, Michigan Shows It’s Far from Lock to Reach Playoff

For three quarters, the Michigan Wolverines had considerable control of Saturday's tilt against the Michigan State Spartans. But football is a 60-minute game. Although Jim Harbaugh's team still recorded an important 32-23 victory, the ordinarily rock-solid bunch showed a few mildly concerning cracks during the final frame. Michigan remains a College Football Playoff favorite, but it's not a lock. Overall, the Wolverines put together a respectable outing. They built a 30-10 advantage early in the fourth quarter, averaged ...

Over the last eight years, Michigan State has owned the Michigan football program. Winning seven of those contests, it's been all Spartans in the Battle for the Bunyan rivalry game. But that looks to have changed this weekend as the Wolverines took care of business in East Lansing, 32-23, after a late fourth quarter comeback by MSU.  Check out my game grades and analysis: Begin Slideshow

Wisconsin 23, Nebraska 17. Game Over (OT). The Big Ten West standings are in for a big shake-up on Saturday as two division heavyweights in Nebraska and Wisconsin squared off on ESPN. Holding a 17-7 fourth-quarter lead, Wisconsin allowed Nebraska to drive downfield for a touchdown before back-to-back interceptions from Badger quarterbacks Alex Hornibrook and Bart Houston pushed Nebraska into a tie. Wisconsin kicker Alex Endicott missed a game-winning field goal, and then he missed the extra point ...

When the first College Football Playoff rankings are released Tuesday, the Michigan Wolverines will have a reason to smile. Roughly a year after the Michigan State Spartans stunned Michigan with a return touchdown off a fumbled punt exchange as time expired, the second-ranked Wolverines exacted their revenge with a 32-23 win at Spartan Stadium in East Lansing on Saturday. The Spartans (2-6) have lost six straight, while the Wolverines (8-0) remain undefeated thanks to their first win over ...

Heisman Trophy front-runner Lamar Jackson added another award-worthy moment to his resume Saturday, as he tossed a touchdown pass with 13 seconds remaining to help the No. 5 Louisville Cardinals avoid an upset loss to the Virginia Cavaliers with a 32-25 victory at Scott Stadium. The Cardinals (7-1, 5-1) trailed their ACC rivals by 10 points midway through the third quarter before the offense finally came to life. They outscored the Cavaliers 25-8 from that point ...
