Ranking the Most Complete Players for the 2016-17 College Basketball Season

Jerry Maguire would be a big fan of these college basketball players. Playing off Tom Cruise's famous line to Renee Zellweger, there are certain players in the game who manage to do a little bit of everything while on the court. They may not be the best at anything, but they don't have any glaring weaknesses, either, and thus meet our criteria for being considered a "complete" player. Being able to contribute both offensively and defensively, from ...

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — No matter how embarrassing the season opener for No. 9-ranked Tennessee almost was Thursday night, you won't hear any apologies for a 20-13 overtime win over a scrappy Appalachian State team. Not from a relieved Volunteers team that is thrilled to get to watch an ugly game film without a blemish on its record. "I've never been a part of a frustrating win," Tennessee coach Butch Jones said. "A win is a win. In this ...

Lane Kiffin Can Exorcise the Last of His College Coaching Demons vs. USC

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Lane Kiffin knows the drill: Don’t make waves. Not this week. There have been no tweets. No interviews granted. Nothing on the Alabama side to draw attention to the fact Kiffin will be facing the last program that fired him as a head coach—Southern California. So far it’s been similar to when he went back to Tennessee for the first time in 2014—uneventful—but that will change. “I know it sounds strange; I really have not ...

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Four years ago, J.T. Barrett contemplated ending his college football career before it ever began. For those of us who follow the sport—and especially Ohio State fans—thankfully he didn't. As the 2016 season approaches, you'd be hard-pressed to find a college football player who's taken a more unique path to superstardom than the Buckeyes redshirt junior quarterback. And if Ohio State is going to remain a national championship contender, Barrett will be the primary reason ...

I picked Tennessee to win the SEC East. I picked Tennessee as a dark-horse contender to make the third edition of the College Football Playoff. I picked Tennessee to take the logical next step after falling one play short of the SEC East title last year and reignite the glory days that have been absent on Rocky Top for a decade. After 60 minutes (and an overtime) of football against Appalachian State on Thursday night in Neyland Stadium, ...

However, teammate Jalen Hurd recovered the ball in the end zone for the go-ahead score. Fox Sports 1's Clay Travis tried to play it off as normal: AL.com's Brent ...
