Posted by Spencer Holbrook on September 10 2016 Add Comments
Ohio State dominated Tulsa, 48-3, on Saturday afternoon in rainy and windy weather conditions to improve to 2-0. The defense was especially dominant, giving up less than 200 yards of offense to Tulsa. Here’s how I graded the performance: Pass offense - C Playing on a wet field did JT Barrett no favors, but he still finished 14-22 for 149 yards passing. Barrett looked uncomfortable in the pocket in the first half, but settled in throughout the ...

After last week's defensive failures, we were looking for marked improvements from the Notre Dame defense.  While we weren't blown totally away, the improvements were easily good enough to please most Irish fans. Was Notre Dame's performance good enough to beat Nevada?  Easily.  What this performance good enough to beat teams like Michigan State, Stanford, Miami and USC?  Only time will tell. But today, we're not grading the Irish for games that haven't yet been played; today's ...

That's not how it played out as Central Michigan pulled off a huge and controversial upset at No. 22 Oklahoma State, and tiny Nicholls nearly did the ...

Is Clemson’s Close Call vs. Troy a Sign of Bigger Problems?

Posted by David Kenyon on September 10 2016 Add Comments
The Clemson Tigers' mediocre performance on the road at the Auburn Tigers, while surprising, was understandable. Deshaun Watson and Co. don't get the same pass following a 30-24 win on Saturday over Troy. Now, overreactions are dangerous. Emotion-fueled responses to a dismal day can be laughed at later when the second-ranked Tigers are shredding every opponent like last season. They're OK for now, despite the disappointing route to 2-0. But—at least for another week—we'll be wondering, discussing ...
